Filippi Boats have generously loaned Naomi one of their world famous white and blues to undertake this challenge. Naomi’s been training in it since February and has got quite attached…
It is a stable boat that is fairly light and very easy to steer so when Naomi is traversing the windier stretches of the Thames she can do this with ease. The floats attached to the underneath of the gates will help Naomi stay afloat and safe – both in the locks, and the choppy water which she is expecting to experience on the tidal Thames.
Naomi’s Filippi single is 6.36m in length and can carry any athlete between 60 and 100kg. It is made of a mixture of Carbon Fibre, Kevlar and Honeycomb and designed with speed and balance in mind.
It is vital that the athlete is positioned well in the boat in terms of distance from the bow and from the water level.
The ergonomic design of the riggers and the stiffness of the material used means that they can be easily adjusted to suit the athlete.
With this in mind, the Filippi single was Naomi’s vessel of choice.
